On the morning of September 17, with the theme “Brotherhood between Mainland and Taiwan”, a cultural exchange camp constituted by 58 students and teachers from universities in Taiwan hold its opening ceremony at ZHBIT library Lecture Hall. Those universities include Chaoyang University of Technology, National Formosa University, National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology, Chung Yuan Christian University and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology. Present at the ceremony are Zeng Gu, Director of Taiwan Affairs Office of Zhuhai City and Head of Zhuhai People’s Government Taiwan Affairs Bureau, Zhao Xianli, President of ZHBIT, Li Shaoxun, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee, and Vice-president of ZHBIT, Zhen Yong, Vice-president of ZHBIT, teachers and students on behalf of the five universities in Taiwan and students on behalf of ZHBIT.
President Zhao extends warm welcome to those friends from afar. He hopes Taiwanese students can further explore the beauty of Zhuhai, and traditional Chinese culture around. They can experience the local customs, get to know humanities feature in Zhuhai and make friends with students and teachers. By visiting enterprises, Taiwanese students can have better understanding of the industry here; therefore can contribute to promoting its fast development. Later, he briefly introduces BIT (Beijing Institute of Technology) and ZHBIT (Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai), and sincerely expects Taiwanese students to have more chance to visit or study in these two universities, since "we are brothers connected by our flesh. We are one family.” Finally he wishes all the students enjoy themselves during their visit.
Mr. Zeng stresses the development of economy and trade between Zhuhai and Taiwan is booming, so is communication between universities. Zhuhai has built a third Taiwan YouthFarmers Entrepreneurial Park (with the first and second park respectively in Hong Kong and Macau). In addition, this is the first time for ZHBIT to take the form-students cultural exchange camp to communicate with universities in Taiwan. Mr. Zeng hopes that with this activity, interaction between students in Taiwan and mainland can be enhanced, friendship between people across the strait can be fostered. He would like to see cultural exchange camp become a brand activity, stimulating long-term academic communication between students from Zhuhai and Taiwan.
Mr. Lin Shengyong, Dean of School of Engineering of National Formosa University is quite overjoyed and wishes to hold this kind of communication activity in Taiwan. Chen Yingzhu, a student from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology shares her internship experience in Singapore, and her experience as International Goodwill Ambassador. A student from ZHBIT recalls his experience as an exchange student in Taiwan, and the help and care he got during that time. Zhang Hanyun, a student from Chung Yuan Christian University feels very excited after knowing he got the chance to visit Zhuhai. He says, “Everything is quite different. Traditional Chinese character used in Taiwan; simplified Chinese character here. I find great differences exist in terms of culture and cuisine, especially after talking with students here. It is really an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
It’s said that the exchange activity would last for 7 days, ending on September 21. During those days, teachers and students from ZHBIT will accompany the delegation to visit well-equipped labs in the university, scenic spots in Zhuhai and some renowned companies such as Gree and Xiaomi.
