On December 9, Deputy Dean of School of Engineering in University of New Mexico (UNM for short), Dr. Ramiro Jordan, Mr. Derrick Ballard, guest professor of School of Engineering and Chief Technology Innovation Officer of State of New Mexico, and Ms. Yi Li from China Office of UNM visited BITZH and were warmly welcomed by Vice President Zhen Yong.
In morning’s meeting, President Zhen introduced the cooperation between BITZH and universities in the U.S. as well as some new development of cooperation programs with UNM. Since BITZH signed with UNM the cooperation agreement of 3+2, B.A./B.S and M.A. Dual Degree Program on November 5, 2015, greats efforts have been made to guarantee its implementation. The first financial management class of UNM (3+2, B.A./B.S and M.A. Dual Degree Program) enrolled 72 students in September, 2016. In addition, international classes were established in September this year in some engineering schools like School of Information Technology, and School of Computer Science and Technology to recruit students planning to study abroad.
During the talk, Deputy Dean of School of Information Technology Mr. Sun Lu and Ms. Zhao Zhuojun, Chief of Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of School of Computer Technology respectively introduced the cooperation projects with UNMand their international classes, expressing their hope to invite professors from UNM to give lectures in BITZH.
Those attending the meeting also included Ms. He Xiaoyang, Director of International Office, Dean of School of Information Technology, Mr. Su Binghua, Dean of School of Computer Technology, Mr. Lu Lianggang and so on.
After that, the delegation from UNM attended financial management class, students delivering presentations for them. And Dr. Ramiro Jordan thought highly of students’ English proficiency, research capability and their ability to only use English to make presentations. After the talk, Dr. SulKassicieh gave a lecture on Business Planning- The Link Between Technology and Entrepreneurship, which was attended by crowds of teachers. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Ramiro Jordan actively interacted with teachers and students, combining his own working experience and teaching experience to answer students’ questions. The lecture was ended in a pleasant atmosphere.
