ZHBIT Signed Cooperation Agreement with UNM

On November 5, Chairman of the board, Mr. Wang Taoguang met with a delegation from the University of New Mexico (UNM) headed by Dr. Robert Frank, President of the university. Other delegates include Dr. Joseph Cecchi, Dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Shu Wei, Deputy Dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Nocole Tami, Director of the Global Education Office of UNM and Jiang Yuqin, Director of China Representative Office. Officials of ZHBIT enjoyed warm and active interaction with members of the delegation. Vice President Pang Siqin, and Zhen Yong participated in the following conference too.
At the conference, Chairman Wang firstly gave a brief introduction about ZHBIT to the guests, and expressed our ideas to actively promote internationalized higher education and continuously enhance teaching quality. President Robert Frank started with a brief introduction of UNM, and conveyed willingness to start international exchange and cooperation with ZHBIT. He indicated that after signing the agreement, more cooperation with other schools in ZHBIT was to be started, and details to cooperate would be determined by next spring. Professor Tami also remarked cooperation was to be promoted in the School of Business, Engineering, and Arts and Design. Meanwhile, he mentioned cultural communication between Chinese and American students could be strengthened by starting student exchange program. Subsequently, Mr. Zhen Yong addressed at the conference, focusing on the other schools’ international cooperation program, which filled the delegation with confidence to establish cooperative relationship with our university.
These two universities signed 3+2 cooperation agreement for undergraduate and postgraduate students, which include cooperation between School of Engineering of UNM and School of Machinery and Vehicle, School of Information and Technology and School of Mathematics & Physics of our university.This agreement, as a pivotal step towards internationalized education, achieved a great breakthrough for school of science in international exchange program. It means another important university is added in the list of international cooperation program for the school of science so that students from science school can have access to more advanced resources of international education .
Other officials of ZHBIT also attended the conference, such as Jiao Yonghe, Dean of the School of Machinery and Vehicle, Sun Hongbo, Dean of the School of Mathematics & Physics, Lu Lianggang, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Technology, Tian Yan, Dean of the School of Business, Sun Lu, Deputy Dean of the School of Information Technology, and He Xiaoyang, Director of International Office. This agreement merely symbolized the start of cooperation between these two universities. It’s expected that before long closer exchange and cooperation will continue to provide more and better opportunities for the faculty and students from both universities. It’s our aim to share global educational resources to cultivate talents.
School of Accounting and Finance held a meeting for teachers and students to exchange ideas, in which the delegation participated. A student, on behalf of his team, displayed and explained in English their work which got the third prize in the semi-final of IMA management accounting case study competition of South China area.
Students also expressed their expectation to study in the U.S.; however, they also have some doubts about American education,the delegation answered their questions patiently, and at the same time, they expressed warm welcome to those who would like to pursue education in UNM.
